Successfully engaging an audience increases participation, improves learning and heightens satisfaction. Institutions know that the accomplishment of any product relies upon the audience. Building a contact and bridging the gap with the audience, is the primary concern when advertising a product. Targeting a certain audience is the most essential part of the production as it ultimately leads to profit or loss. Every product has a certain target audience and it is important to identify it prior to the production in order to achieve highest numbers of sales. So following this rule I tried approaching a wider audience other than the typical 26-40 teenagers, thus targeting the whole demographic of teens and adults incorporating certain styles, trends and techniques to catch their eye. To engage the audiences we need to utilize sufficient marketing techniques and great regard has to be paid to production and distribution.

The target audience of my Music Magazine are certainly those people who are music listeners or who are interested in listening to new artists. In addition to this, my magazine is for adults as well who are encouraged to look at new and more recent artists. This meant that I had to come up with something that is not only attractive for teenagers but for adults too in one way or the other. Analyzing various covers allowed me to identify the common pattern of the chosen genre. The pattern includes organized layout, attractive color scheme, intriguing cover lines, an attractive musical image and a mast head. The audience is engaged as it follows all aspects that a music magazine has. I tried to incorporate all of these to my magazine.

For example, the colour scheme of my Cover Page is attractive enough to catch the audience’s eyes; the red-coloured light, a solo image of the artist, yellow and white text against a deep red background creates a colourful or vibrant theme. The Main Image for any dessert magazine cover is conventionally the most captivating element and it plays the most important part in targeting the audience. My Main Image is eye-catchy enough to immediately attract the audience. Moreover, the white Mast Head seems to be placed closed together against a dark background and the text “Chronicles Of Music” instantly grabs the attention of all music lovers. The cover lines, on the other hand, create an enigma code which draws the readers in. For example, cover lines such as “Music The Mediator” in classical fonts are one of the conventions of such magazines and help in creating a sense of appeal. All of the elements from bold mast heads to intriguing coverlines to captivating main image, were specifically used to increase the audience engagement and participation.

Furthermore, a different kind of a Contents Page was designed to give the audiences a new look which ultimately helps in grabbing their attention. The right sided-aligned pictures gives more importance to the main image rather than the text which is placed on the sides. The contents page is also not too crowded with the text which simultaneously diverts the reader’s attention to the colourful images. The images and text on the page have been placed close together in such a way that allows the audience to construct a narrative themselves and read about what’s important first.

For the Double-Spread, I dedicated one whole page to the captivating Main Images so that it becomes the center of attention, while the other page had a text which covers entire page. Therefore, attractive elements like these play a significant role in boosting audience engagement.

On the contrary, latest methods and techniques will be used to promote my magazine. Distribution can make or break a company. A good distribution system quite simply means the company has greater chance of selling its products more than its competitors. The company that spreads its products wider and faster into the market place at lower costs always succeeds. Effective distribution methods are necessary in order to select the most appropriate channel of distribution which ensures that the magazine is nearest to its potential buyers although the selection requires a lot of contemplation. The magazine needs to be reached to the audience in the most convenient way.

To promote the magazine, Posters and Videos will be published through a sponsor on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. It will be distributed through newsstands, bookstores, coffee shops and websites. The magazine will feature any current issue or recent matter which can create audience anticipation. Synergizing with music bloggers who are keen on perusing new music interviews is a great way to market my magazine. By giving a discount on the website and one year free membership online, I can grab the attention of buyers. I may also give the facility for online payment through credit/debit cards or bank transfer. The magazine can be distributed online to eBook websites and through mail subscriptions as this will target a wide range of audiences globally and people can buy and read the magazine safely through the comfort of their homes. Considering a more creative method, the magazine can also be sent as PR packages to famous bloggers who have global audiences. This will allow them to share their reviews about my magazine thus catching the eye of others.
